The market is full of cars with great looks and fuel efficiency but 2015 Honda CR-Z is the only one, which is a hybrid two-seater hatchback coupe. The CR-Z is supposed to be an improved version of CRX. However, it has somehow not been able to come up as a very promising vehicle.
Exterior and Interior
The car has a pleasant look with a bit of daintiness. From the hood, it blows outwards with a curvaceous roofline, which continues some way beyond the rear. Hence, the rear is nestled under it. The design quickly conveys that it will be a city friendly car, which will not trouble you inside parking lots and in crowded places. If you are aware of the design of the Honda Insight then you are likely to find many similarities between the two. Opinion are divided whether the look of the 2015 CR-Z is striking but it is definitely practical.
Interior of the car consists of 2 seats. Driver seat is appropriate for accommodating taller individuals too. However, the legroom is limited, which may make the passenger uncomfortable at times. If he/she happens to be tall then keeping the knees apart may be troublesome. The hatch opening is a bit narrower and the elevation is higher than usual because of the presence of the battery pack.
Engine and Mileage
A 4-cylinder 1.5 liter engine supports the CR-Z when it runs on the fuel mode. It promises 130hp with a torque of 140 lb-ft. The electric mode is powered by 15-kilowatt lithium ion battery with 20hp. Keeping the battery charged all the time is a good idea because you will be able to use the Plus Sport System. At the touch of an S+ button, you can experience a 5-second power boost of electric torque. Mpg has been calculated to be 31-city, 38-highway, and 37 combined. Following the other Honda cars, the CR-Z also has the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA), which is actually as electric motor, which helps the engine work more efficiently at the time of acceleration. Hence, the vehicle is able to function well even with an engine promising not much fuel efficiency.
Price and Release Data
The CRZ will be available with a base price of $20,145 and is likely to be released towards the middle of 2015.
The mileage of the CRZ is not much impressive. Even the interior comfort is not that promising. However, the compactness of the 2015 Honda CR-Z and exterior styling are its positive features.
